INTRODUCTION: sexuality is an important education element of children with Down syndrome reason by which the parents must to have the appropriate knowledges to face it in a responsible way from the first stages of live. METHODS: intervention with a before-after study design with a non-equivalent control group on notions and treatment of sexuality own of parents of children con Down syndrome. A three-stage investigation was carried out in which three workshops was given. RESULTS: before workshops only the 23,5 % of mothers (8) received information on sexuality, the rubbing action (30; 88,2 %) is the more linked to sexuality in children, actions that parents associate to sexuality are related to genitals in 100 % of cases (sexual intercourse and to touch genitals), and always were present negative reactions in face of children actions. After workshops actions were added related to spirituality and the feelings to genitals increased the positive reactions of parents, to seek specialized information 23 (67,6 %), and to deflect attention 27 (79,4 %). The 70,6 % of parents considered a healthy sexuality in future. CONCLUSIONS: parents of children with Down syndrome showed a lack of enough knowledge on sexuality, workshops gave to parents had a positive impact in this type of knowledge in their own, and how to manage it in their children, and expressed hopes related to the future sexuality of their children.
