Abstract

SANCHEZ MUNIZ, Marilyn  and  GONZALEZ PEREZ, Camilo. Reflections about the ethical and bioethical problems in treatment presenting with a terminal disease. Rev Cubana Med Gen Integr [online]. 2009, vol.25, n.4, pp.98-106. ISSN 0864-2125.

A bibliographic review was conducted about ethical and bioethical features in treatment of patient presenting a terminal disease. It is a right of all citizens the care and protection of his health within the legal framework and the current concept of health, with validity of the three fundamental principles included in bioethical triangle: autonomy, justice and charity. Ethical conduct with these patients receiving palliative cares not differs of the governing principles of any act related to medical care, since all action must to be directed to benefit of human being without cause damages. There is much confusion and controversy as regards the terminal care ethics, particularly in the more controversial areas of resuscitation, at onset and end of treatments, feeding and euthanasia. Patient presenting with a terminal disease has the right of live until its maximal physical emotional, spiritual, vocational and social potential compatible with the resulting state of disease progression. These are the features approached in present paper.

Keywords : Ethics; bioethics; patient with a terminal disease.
