Resumen

Fundament: teenage pregnancy is one of the more important medical preoccupations derived from the sexual conduct of young people. Objective: to identify risk factors for teenage pregnancy in Santa Cruz del Norte from 2002 to 2011. Methods: a study of cases and controls about risk factors for adolescent pregnancy in Santa Cruz del Norte from 2002 to 2011. From a universe of 336 adolescent pregnant women we chose a sample of 252 at random that conformed the study group; control group was choosing of equal amount of non adolescent pregnant patients. The data collection was by means of survey and for the statistical analysis it was used the average, standard deviation, percentage, square chi and Odds Ratio. Results: the adolescents were mainly housewives, the age of the first intercourse was precocious in the study group and most of the adolescents didn´t use contraceptive methods; the raising of this group was not made by both parents and they were developed mainly in a dysfunctional familiar means. Conclusions: there are multiple risk factors for teenage pregnancy susceptible of being modified from primary care.
