Abstract

A review was held on the relationship of stress, health and control beliefs in Primary Health Care, highlighting that stress is a condition requiring adequately addressing since its symptoms produce a series of disturbances in the individual, affecting health, creating problems such as conflicts, dissatisfaction, and difficulty in social development. This disease is presented as a phenomenon that represents a particular type of relationship between man and the environment. It has different "degrees" that are distinguished by the intensity of emotional experiences present, for its pleasant/unpleasant character; the magnitude of stimulation the subject passively receives; or physiological result, more or less specific answer according to the control beliefs that are both internal and external resources available individual have to cope with it. If appropriate, the harm to health lessens. This motivated updating on the theme for the basic health team to develop intervention strategies based on their understanding and to allow mitigating its effects on the health of individuals and families.
