A review of the literature was made on certain terms which are employed in a vicious form and with a relative frequency in the language of medicine, in order to determine the proper utilization. Results were devided into 2 parts: the incorrect utilization of gender in certain nouns and barbarisms. It is concluded that the use of vicious linguistic expressions is very common in the daily work of different medical specialties; the fact that they may be considered as standards of the language is under discussion. Recommendations are made regarding the correction of such terms.
