The poor level of students on entering the Medical Faculty as regards the abilities for interpreting and representing graphs of variables associated with biological functions and their regulations, which is an objective os Physiology I, led the authors to write this paper aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of the methodological activity of the group in that sense. A test was made among lst-year medical students to diagnose their ability to interpret graphs in the first class of this subject. A methodological work was designed for exercising graphs. A question to idenfity graphs was evaluated in the first intrasemestral test, whereas a question to construct graphs was included in the second test. Students had to answer both types of questions in the final oral test. On comparing the results obtained during the first semester with the diagnostic test, it was observed a trend to improve in the interpretation and construction of graphs.
