Abstract

The present updating paper intends to be a consultation document about the university accreditation process. Its concept and purpose are analyzed. The approaches on education quality and its determination are considered. The institutional evaluation or self-evaluation are assessed as an instrument to detect strong or weak points and areas to be developed. Its objectives, contributions and minimum conditions as well as its main obstacles are exposed.The operational procedure of institutional accreditation, its structure by stages and the methodology to be followed are presented.
