Abstract

A qualitative developmental research was made aimed at proposing a pedagogical strategy leading to promote the critical thinking in Nursing Baccalaureate students. The factors favoring or limiting the development of the critical thinking in 3rd-year students of the day regular course were analyzed. 20 key informants, who were third-year Nursing Baccalaureate professors from all the the Faculties of the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences of Havana , were included in an induced intentional sampling. A semi-structured survey was done. Data were analyzed starting from the procedures of induction, deduction, abstraction and generalization. It was possible to identify those educational factors that favor and limit the development of critical thinking among these students. A pedagogical strategy was recommended to enhance the development of this intellectual skill.
