The present paper allows to evaluate the organization of the educative program of the Family Medicine specialty. A retrospective study was conducted to this end. The methods used were theoretical and empirical. An instrument of curricular evaluation was applied to the family medicine program by three experts. The theoretical methods allowed to make an integrating analysis of the data obtained according to the evaluative tool considered that favors a more relevant teaching management at this formative level. The present principles on the quality, relevance, and effectiveness of the curriculum evaluation were considered. The study was conducted in Morelia City , Michoacan State Mexico, within the framework of primary care. The assessment of the specialty took into account an elaborate instrument for higher education that was validated for that purpose. It was possible to evaluate the development and organization of the program object of study. Main conclusions: the need of an educational strategy favouring the application of the contents of the specialty in correspondance with the national social needs.
