AIM: to stress the most significant results attained in the second course of the Medical Faculty in Adén, and the impact produced by Fidel'visit to that educational center. DEVELOPMENT: the main characteristics of the faculty as regards the composition of the teaching staff, its allocation, places, available material resourses, and text books used were briefly described. The results obtained in pregraduate education (two first years), as well as in professional upgrading were also explained. The achievements attained with the research papers submitted in the II Scientific Meeting of the faculty and the preparation of teaching in the clinical area was also dealt with. CONCLUSIONS: teaching in basic sciences was consolidated and the foundations for clinical teaching were laid down, and the scientific research of students and professors increased; however, the most significant, transcendent and historical event was the visit of Fidel to this faculty on march 11, 1977.
