Abstract

A research was made to characterize the teaching practice in the subjects Human Morphophysiology I and II in the Andean states of Venezuela. Seventy teaching practices and the behavior of 300 students were observed by an observation guide designed to this end. A closed survey was done among 380 professors and 9 key informers were interviewed. Documents and bibliofgraphies that allowed to define the scientific problem, to justify the study and to found it theoretically; were reviewed. The methodological design was structured based on the triangulation of theoretical and empirical methods, as well as on statistical procedures. Positive aspects were evidenced in the general organization, discipline of professors and students, the development of general methodological values and aspects of teaching practice. There were identified some difficulties influencing on the quality of the teaching activity centered on: theoretical-practical and clinical-basic link based on pathologic patterns, an insufficient performance of the teaching tasks, and some deficiencies in the preparation of practice
