A descriptive study was conducted to determine some features related to Specialty Completion Paper (SCP) and other on the research methodological training which measure the fulfillment of research function during the training of the specialist in Integral General Medicine (IGM) in Habana del Este municipality. Information sources used were the completion papers of IGM as specialty corresponding to 2005-2006 courses as well as the application of questionnaires to IGM specialists who are the authors of such researches and to professor involved in training process of the above specialists. We concluded that there is an inappropriate use of the research methodology as well as the scientific method according to evidence present in final reports and the learning needs in this discipline by students and by professors, a lack of a methodological scientific training of professor and lack of time to develop the research activities. It is recommended to fulfill and to improve the methodological teaching control, the teaching and research overcoming of the professors, to use the educational research and its results in the knowledge and the problems solution.
