Abstract

SANCHEZ BIZAMA, Julieta; ORTIZ MOREIRA, Liliana  and  PEREZ VILLALOBOS, Christian. Profile of values of the graduates from Nutrition and Dietetic career. Educ Med Super [online]. 2012, vol.26, n.3, pp.385-396. ISSN 0864-2141.

With the objective of identifying the profile of values of nutritionists in Ciudad de Concepcion and of relating it with some socio-demographic variables, a non-experimental, cross-sectional and corelational study was carried out. Schwartz' Survey Values Questionnaire (CDV), validated in Chile (ninth region) by Sainz in 2003, was applied. For the statistical analysis, the internal reliability of the questionnaire was evaluated using Cronbach's alpha coefficient; then the CDV scorings were estimated through the summation of each item code; they proved to be reliable for their use in further studies. It was determined that types of values called Benevolence and Self-management were given the utmost importance as the guiding principle of life according to the nutritionists' criteria. The least scored types of values were Incentive and Power. Likewise, there were no differences in the profile of values of the nutritionists graduated from either private or traditional universities; neither is there any difference in professionals graduated from religious or secular universities.

Keywords : profile of values; nutritionists; types of values.
