The idea of setting and practicing governing standards and principles for the individual and social behaviors of the physicians determined early approach of teaching of medical contents to the teaching of ethical and moral contents. Medical care and education in Cuba have long tradition in the ethical and humanitarian formation of medical professionals, although certain dissatisfactions are observed at present. The objective of this was to present some reflections on the teaching and the learning of ethical and moral values, which stemmed from accumulated experiences in the Cuban medical university. Literature and documentary review was made in the domestic and regional settings. The importance of the professor as an example, the microcurricular enhancement, the formative and certified evaluation related to the ethical and moral formation of the medical students, the curricular educational work and the methodological work of the faculties were all underscored.
