Teaching the English language in the curriculum of medical sciences is a significant element if one takes into account that it leads to the comprehensive training of the students and to the fulfillment of the internationalist intentions of the Cuban society. The aim of this paper is to highlight the role of information and communication technologies in the teaching of English as a foreign language at the University of Medical Sciences. Books and documents about the subject were consulted, which allowed to obtain the desired information. It is concluded that the use of technologies exerts a positive influence on the teaching-learning process for this language, whose study is becoming more important, due to the number of inhabitants in the world who use it to communicate in a general and professional way, which facilitates the opening and communication with different countries and cultures. However, there are difficulties that can affect its use and effectiveness.
