The initiatives for accepting and using open educational resources in higher education institutions are planned based on the creation of adequate settings for accessing information and the sustainable development of quality learning resources. At the same time, it includes collaboration models based on the necessities of teachers and students. The objective of this article is to identify initiatives that contribute to accepting and using open educational resources in higher education institutions in Cuba. The work is basically a documentary research, which takes into account the acceptance and use of these resources in higher education internationally. In conclusion, an analysis is carried out of the challenges that universities must face in order to promote the use of open educational resources opened by teachers in the Cuban university context.
