Introduction:

Health is a point of convergence between the biological and the social, the individual and the community, and social and economic policies. This is how the training of human resources becomes imperative for professionals to be able to face the challenges imposed by that their future performance.

Objective:

To present the experiences in the elaboration and development of the diploma course on Public Health Education carried out at the National School of Public Health in its first edition.

Methods:

Documentary review was carried out to identify the topics and outcomes of the courses, diploma courses and master’s degree courses imparted for more than five years. Interviews were conducted on experts in Public Health, and methodological work was carried out to determine the topics to be incorporated into the teaching program.

Results:

Six topics were included to sum up a total of 812 hours, of which only 136 were taught on-site. It had an evaluation system that included formative and state evaluation. The participants in the diploma course had the opportunity to appreciate another approach to education in health sciences, and they expressed such criterion throughout the development of the topics by means of surveys and group participation.

Conclusions:

The contribution of a group of professors from the National School of Public Health to health education is a first attempt for the development of a diploma with interdisciplinary nuances with an integrative and health-related approach.
