Introduction:
The national and international settings demand that professionals of medical education contribute to the successful professional performance of graduates from medical schools.
Objective:
To present the current trends about the humanistic training of medical students.
Development:
The current Cuban society, inserted within a highly complex contemporary world, faces the challenge of looking for choices in the socioeconomic, political, legal, scientific-technological, pedagogical, sociological respects, among others, which may allow the survival and strengthening of the ethical foundations of its social project. The preservation of Cuban national identity and integrity is only possible under terms of citizen unity, social equity, respect for difference and solidarity, elements enhanced by humanism.
Conclusions:
The humanistic training, an essential part of the comprehensive training of Cuban doctors, requires intentional and systematic strategies developed by the process actors.
