TOLEDO HIDALGO, Deimarys et al. Strategies for Learning the Histological Structure of the Cell from the Teaching Activity. REMS [online]. 2024, vol.38  Epub 28-Oct-2024. ISSN 1561-2902.

Introduction:

It is necessary for professors to work not only on teaching, but also on their students' learning. A major component is how learning takes place and, within it, learning strategies. However, there are few studies that, in addition to describing and characterizing these strategies, propose their management.

Objective:

To promote the use of strategies for learning the histological structure of the cell from the teaching activity.

Methods:

A developmental research was carried out in the field of medical education, at Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Holguín in the period between January 2020 and March 2021, with the participation of 65 students of the first academic year of the medical major, divided into two groups: 28 with high performance and 37 with low performance.

Results:

When comparing the learning strategies used by low and high performance students, both of them were observed to use repetition strategies widely.

Conclusions:

Elaboration and organization strategies confer greater understanding in the study of the histological structure of the cell. Strategies for learning the histological structure of the cell are promoted from the teaching activity.
