FALCON FAGUNDO, Miguel Enrique; RODRIGUEZ GONZALEZ, Leobel  y  GOMEZ CAPOTE, Indira. A Strategy for Training Human Resources in Optical Services. REMS [online]. 2024, vol.38  Epub 30-Sep-2024. ISSN 1561-2902.

Introduction:

The continuous development in the updating of knowledge and skills of personnel in optical services are essential to face the challenges involved in providing services in a context of technological advances and changes in patient needs.

Objective:

To design a training strategy for the improvement of professional performance of human resources in optical services from Empresa Provincial de Servicios Ópticos of Havana.

Methods:

A development and innovation research was carried out in the field of medical education in the Havana Empresa Provincial de Servicios Ópticos, from January to December 2022. It had two stages: characterization of the level of knowledge, skills and attitudes of optometry and optics technologists, and design of the strategy. The sample consisted of 34 technologists and 16 managers selected intentionally, who gave their consent to participate in the study. Theoretical and empirical methods were used.

Results:

The strategy was structured into foundations, objective, characteristics and four stages (diagnosis, planning, execution and evaluation).

Conclusions:

The design of a training strategy for the improvement of performance in optometry and optics technologists, structured in stages, with its corresponding objectives and actions, favored its implementation in professional practice, by contributing to the improvement of performance and the updating of skills and knowledge of these professionals.
