A case of hematogenous osteomyelitis in the lumbar spine is presented. As a primary focus it was detected the presence of coagulase positive Staphylococcus in the nasal mucosa. The definitive diagnosis is obtained through a bacteriological study of the material extracted from the vertebral body of L3 and L4 with the instrumental used for percutaneous dissection.
