Introduction:

The study of competencies occupies a first-order space. It has been addressed by various institutions and authors to recognize certain trends in its treatment and definition. A technological development research was carried out with the objective of identifying the managerial competencies of nursing managers at Frank País International Scientific Complex. Theoretical, empirical and mathematical methods were applied. Bibliographies and documents related to the subject were analyzed. Managerial competencies were proposed, after being validated by the committee of experts. A survey was also applied to managers to determine their learning needs. The information was assessed based on induction-deduction, abstraction and generalization. The quantitative data were processed with the statistical system SPSS version 24.0. It concluded with the identification of 14 managerial competencies and the learning needs of nursing managers.
