MARTINEZ ESTUPINAN, Lázaro M. et al. Intervention project to improve the quality of teaching staff in Orthopedics and Traumatology. Rev Cubana Ortop Traumatol [online]. 2025, vol.39 Epub 25-Mayo-2025. ISSN 1561-3100.
Introduction:
Changes in higher medical education have necessitated the establishment of control mechanisms to ensure compliance with the indicators that measure and monitor the quality of the subject matter in the Orthopedics Service of Mártires del 9 de Abril Provincial General University Hospital.
Objective:
To present the results of the implementation of a set of actions to optimize quality of the Orthopedics Service of Mártires del 9 de Abril Provincial General University Hospital.
Methods:
A longitudinal prospective study was conducted at Mártires del 9 de Abril Provincial General University Hospital from January 2018 to December 2022. The theoretical methods used were analysis-synthesis, inductive-deductive, and historical-logical; empirical methods were used, including documentary analysis; and mathematical-statistical methods for data analysis. Results: During the implementation of actions to improve teaching quality, the number of teaching assistants and full professors increased; more than 50% of them obtained research status, and 70% held a doctorate in science or a second specialization degree. The faculty's scientific production exceeded the National Accreditation Board's indicators for evaluating a subject of excellence.
Conclusions:
The implementation of an action plan to improve teaching quality yielded highly satisfactory results.
