Those aspects related to the genetic influence on the development of primary open-angle glaucoma are reviewed. The exact pattern of inheritance in primary open-angle glaucoma is not established yet and it is probably due to the presence of various types of inheritance, which are modified by other genetic and environmental factors. It is not clear when it is only a result of inheritance or when it is associated with other factors
