The ocular electrophysiological tests are a varied group of extremely relevant diagnostic tools that stand out because of their objectivity. The multifocal electroretinogram is among the most novel and promising in this selected group, but at the same time, it is one of the most complex to be obtained. A literature review of the aspects related to obtaining, representation and clinical applications of the multifocal electroretinogram was made and presented in this paper.
