Low vision is a condition that results in significant reduction of a person´s vision and thus it represents a challenge worldwide. The main causes are glaucoma, myopic maculopathy, age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Visual rehabilitation involves a set of processes aimed at obtaining the maximum visual utilization from a patient with low vision, with a view to achieving his/her re-incorporation into the society. The causes of low vision are varied. The most common ones in Santi Spiritus province are glaucoma, myopic maculopathy, age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. The article theorized about the visual rehabilitation process that assures the use of the remaining useful vision that a patient preserves, by using optical and non-optical aids.
