Resumen

BONET GORBEA, Mariano et al. Diferencias entre la consignación de causa de muerte del Certificado de defunción y la del Informe Necrópsico. Rev Cubana Salud Pública [online]. 1998, vol.24, n.1, pp.32-40. ISSN 0864-3466.

A retrospective study was carried out in "Hermanos Ameijeiras" Hospital, to identify the differences between the consignation of death cause of defunction certification and that of the necropsic report. All the defunction certifications and necropsic reports of patients who died in the hospital in the bieenial period from 1994 to 1995, were taken as a universe of study. The Kappa stadigraph for concordance was applied, and patterns were established by the experts’ criteria, in order to evaluate the total concordance, and non-concordance between both inspections. Differences between the causes of death which are consignated in the defunction certification and those of the necropsic report were not very marked, but the hospital has high technology resources whic could have led to a higher concordance in many of the analysed causes. The non-concordance level was higher in diseases artery and arteriole deseases, ischemic heart diseases and trachea tumors, bronchi and lung. Although non-concordance is low, it could be improved, if the diagnostic capacity of the Center were used with more efficiency. The partial concordance is essentially attributed to cardiovacular diseases. The effectiveness of diagnosis could have been increased, due to the existing diagnostic capacity. We recommend to use the results of this study in the faculty activity at this hospital, in order to improve the quality of the consignation of the cause of death of the defunction certification and to carry out this kind of investigation in other hospital facilities.
