A descriptive study was conducted to determine the performance of the services given by the Cuban magnetic resonance equipment Giromaig-1 and Giroimag-2, manufactured by the Medical Biophysical Center in Santiago de Cuba, during the period 1996-1998 taking the comparative analysis of monthly, six-monthly and annual statistical reports of the services rendered by these equipment, the patients cared for in the period, the recorded positivity and the most common diagnosed lesions as a basis. Finally, the factors that have facilitated the favorable evolution of services given by such equipment were listed and the need for and convenience of extending their use in the Cuban health care systems was underlined.
