The need of studying from different angles the phenomena and events that occur in the society is inherent to the social sciences and a sine quanon condition to guarantee the development of and knowledge about the world that surrounds us. This analytical-descriptive paper makes reference to points of view and results of several single research works in the field of social and community participation in the solution of health problems. It identifies achievements and restrictions in this field in primary health care work. Final considerations underline the need for training as an alternative for the solution of detected problems and state that this topic may be addressed with new theoretical and practical approaches
