The map is the language of geography and a means that, as an analytical resource, turns spatial data into spatial information. The map is followed by the analysis that uses the categories of space, territory and place. In a geographical information system, maps or graphical bases acquire an higher additional value since other data are associated to the former. These data may be alphanumeric ones, tables, images, videos or texts. The objective of this communication is to present the substantiation of the specific actions that the development of geographic information systems devised by GEOCUBA offer to the national health care system
