Resumen

SILVA AYCAGUER, Luis Carlos. Notes on the search for epistemology without impositions. Rev Cubana Salud Pública [online]. 2004, vol.30, n.3. ISSN 0864-3466.

This paper makes reflections on the philosophical questions that have been either rejected or ignored in great part of practical research, teaching and /or social communication of science. It stated and substantiated the different kinds of impositions and opportunism that partially derived from this situation. A brief historical review was made on the destructive tendencies related to structuralism that led to the so-called post-modernism in the last years of the 20th century. Special emphasis was made on the detailed analysis of the well-known academic event staged by physician Alan Sakal in the mid 90´s, which is used to draw more general conclusions that should be taken into consideration by biomedical and health care researchers in order to appropriate efficient epistemology, and to achieve full understanding of the role of the knowledge sociology and pure ethics of research and intellectual work in general

Palabras clave : EPISTEMOLOGY; PSEUDOSCIENCE; POST-MODERNISM; RESEARCH.
