SANTANA PEREZ, Felipe y CALERO, Jorge Luis. Sex selection: Some reflections based on ethics. Rev Cubana Salud Pública [online]. 2004, vol.30, n.3. ISSN 0864-3466.
Gender-related inequalities and differences in many societies have fostered the parents´preference for one sex or the other. Since ancient times, sex selection for children has become a regular practice going from infanticide to the selection of male gametes. Undoubtedly, the technological development has played a leading role in such an evolution. The real truth is that persons have the right to choose the sex of their descendants but at the same time, there is no reason whatsoever that supports discrimination of females. This article is aimed at calling the attention and making reflections on the sex selection and the role of technology in this event from an ethical and social viewpoint
