ACEVEDO CANTERO, Paula. Social and health impact of migration on Maghrebian and Latin American women in Madrid. Rev Cubana Salud Pública [online]. 2005, vol.31, n.3, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3127.
Official data about inmigrant women, mainly on their reproductive health are scarce. The objetive of the presente paper is to define the socio-economic and reproductive characteristics of the women from Latin America and Maghreb based in Madrid, and to determine the migratory impact from the gynecological health viewpoint. A number of socio-economic and reproductive variables has been examined in a population of 96 Maghrebian and 125 Latin American women. Quantitative indexes have been used to determine the migratory impact in relation to these factors. The results show a change in reproductive behavior and higher frequencies of menstrual dysfunction after migration. In conclusion, worse health status in the welcoming country and a change in fertility pattern associated to the social and working conditions of the migrant women were observed
