DAVILA, Fanny; GOMEZ, Wuilman  e  HERNANDEZ, Tulia. Health situation, a management tool for postgraduate courses. Rev Cubana Salud Pública [online]. 2009, vol.35, n.1. ISSN 0864-3466.

The Health Situation Analysis is a tool that is looking for changing the complexity of health determinants and conditions in their range of dimensions, in order to improve the health status and the quality of life of the population. According to the continental initiative by the Pan American Health Organization in 2000 known as "Public Health in the Americas" and the Venezuelan government policies with respect to postgraduate programs in Health Public Management and Epidemiology of "Dr Arnoldo Gabaldón" Higher Public Health Education, the learning module on Health Situation Analysis was given. For this end, Hanlón´s method was used as a key element in which health is addressed from a managerial or epidemiological perspective, and the Analysis are made by the participants using multidisciplinary, intersectoral and interinstitutional criteria. This methodology allows identifying and giving priority to the needs with the involvement of community's social actors, hence, the Analysis becomes a tool for both the health team and the communities which should actively participate in providing true information about their real health situation - a fundamental element to make the necessary changes.
