Abstract

NORIEGA BRAVO, Vivian. Process approach assessment as an alternative for quality improvement in the control of Aedes aegypti. Rev Cubana Salud Pública [online]. 2014, vol.40, n.3, pp. 388-396. ISSN 0864-3466.

For the purpose of achieving effective functioning of the health organizations, it is required to identify and manage a number of interrelated processes and consider them as one dimension that includes the set of actions to turn the structure into results and hence to incorporate the service value. Thus, these processes are the ones that mostly expressed what has been so far accomplished in their organizational units. The processes are the main object for the continuous improvement of quality and their evaluation gives the possibility of correcting biases in the daily work of the organization in order to achieved the expected results. The interest in improving the performance of an organization requires effective analysis methods to redirect the problem solutions to their true origins. The implementation of the prevention and control measures of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes require, among others, the analysis of a group of processes assuring the integration of actions at health area level and supporting the quality of work results. The Departments of Surveillance and Antivector Control are in charge of these activities. This article presented some considerations on this issue and underlined the suitability of the process-based management approach and of the organizational evaluation for the analysis and the improvement of the performance in these organizational units.
