Resumen

GONZALEZ-ARGOTE, Javier. Latin American scientific production on Electronic Health Record in: an analysis from Scopus. Rev Cubana Salud Pública [online]. 2019, vol.45, n.3, e1312.  Epub 15-Oct-2019. ISSN 0864-3466.

Introduction:

The concept of electronic health record goes beyond the introduction of ITs in data records related with the patient and the service received. This means that its denomination depends on the informatization level applied in its management.

Objective:

To describe Latin American scientific production on electronic health records in journals indexed to Scopus database.

Methods:

A bibliometric, descriptive study was developed through the review of articles published in journals indexed in Scopus database. The sample consisted in 518 articles.

Results:

Since 2001, with an average of 41 articles per year, there is a considerable increase in scientific production; in 2014 this increases exponentially, and it could be in correspondence with the First Meeting of the Network for the Development of Electronic Clinical History for Latin America and the Caribbean. The country with the highest scientific production is Brazil.

Conclusions:

Latin American scientific production on digital health records in indexed journals of Scopus database increased each year; the most productive authors were from Universidad de Sao Paulo and Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires, which in turn have more intense collaborations. There was high international collaboration, especially with countries such as the United States, United Kingdom and Germany. These results are in correspondence with the policies and lines of research drawn up by different countries in order to raise the quality of health services.
