ESCANDELL RICO, Francisco Miguel y PEREZ FERNANDEZ, Lucia. Factors Related to Adverse Events in Vaccines. Rev Cub Sal Públ [online]. 2024, vol.50 Epub 08-Ago-2024. ISSN 1561-3127.
Introduction:
Vaccine adverse events are one of the leading causes of preventable injuries and harm in global healthcare systems. Therefore, it is important to consider factors related to vaccine safety.
Objective:
To analyze the factors related to adverse events in vaccines through vaccine notification systems.
Methods:
A systematic review was conducted, following the PRISMAScR preferred reporting items for systematic reviews. Articles that evaluated factors related to AEs in vaccines, were included provided they were available in English and Spanish and published in peer-reviewed academic journals from 2017 to 2022.
Conclusions:
The reviewed articles analyze the importance of different vaccine adverse events, highlighting, above all, vaccine management and administration. There is also a clear need to develop standardized vaccine reporting systems as robust tools in the investigation of adverse events. This could improve vaccine safety and quality of care.
Palabras clave : patient safety; adverse drug reaction recording systems; side effects and adverse reactions related to medications; vaccine.
