Introduction:
Tuberculosis is considered an infectious disease produced by Mycobacterium tuberculosis characterized by the formation of granulomas in the compromised tissues.
Objective:
To characterize the main risk factors associated with tuberculosis, in patients notified during the period from January 2018 to December 2020, in the municipality of Palma Soriano, Santiago de Cuba province.
Method:
An observational-descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out. The universe consisted of 24 patients reported with tuberculosis, notified through the Mandatory Declaration Disease Card to the Municipal Department of Statistics, in the period studied. We worked with the total of the same, not applying any sampling technique.
Results:
The age group over 60 years prevailed with a total of 7 (29.2 %), the male sex over the female n=17; 70.8 % and the practice of smoking n=14; 58.3 %.
Conclusions:
It was observed that tuberculosis was more present in people over 60 years of age, in men and in smokers, the most representative chronic diseases were Diabetes Mellitus and Bronchial Asthma and prisoners were the minority.
