CEIRO, W.G; AREVALO, Jersys; PUERTAS, Ana L  y  HIDALGO-DIAZ, L. Tolerance of Pochonia chlamydosporia var. catenulata (Kamyschko ex Barron and Onions) Zare and W. Gams to different levels of sodium chloride. Rev. Protección Veg. [online]. 2013, vol.28, n.1, pp.70-73. ISSN 1010-2752.

Tolerance in vitro to different levels of sodium chloride of the strain IMI SD 187 of the nematophagous fungus Pochonia chlamydosporia var. catenulata (Kamyschko ex Barron and Onions) Zare and W. Gams was determined in a trial carried out at the National Center for Agricultural Health (CENSA), Cuba. Levels of sodium chloride (2dS.m-1, 4dS.m-1, 6dS.m-1, 8dS.m-1, 10dS.m-1, 12dS.m-1, 14dS.m-1 and 16dS.m-1) and deionized water (0.3dS.m-1) as the control were used in a completely randomized desing with 5 replications. The relationship between inhibition of germination of chlamydospores and conidia and the different levels of salinity stress were analyzed by linear regression. The chlamydospores were more tolerant to salinity than the conidia, with 50% inhibition of germination at 13dS.m-1 and 12dS.m-1respectively. From the results obtained, further studies must be conducted to determine the effectiveness of P. chlamydosporia var. catenulata as a biological control agent of Meloidogyne spp., in saline soil with the purpose of recommending the integrated use of this fungus in technological packages of agricultural production in agroecosystems with salinity problems.
