Resumen

INFANTE, Danay; MARTINEZ COCA, Benedicto; SANCHEZ, Yaíma  y  PINO, Oriela. Effect of essential oils on four strains of Trichoderma asperellum Samuels. Rev. Protección Veg. [online]. 2013, vol.28, n.2, pp. 153-157. ISSN 1010-2752.

The aim of this study was to determine the in vitro compatibility of four strains of Trichoderma asperellum Samuels with essential oils from the plant species Melaleuca quinquenervia (Cav) S.T. Blake (Melaleuca), Piper aduncum subsp. ossanum (C.DC.) Saralegui (Cuban Platanillo) and Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck (Sweet Orange). Such effect was evaluated by the direct contact of the fungal mycelium with the oils; and then the Radial Growth Inhibition Percentage (PICR) was calculated. The oil from C. sinensis did not affect the growth of any of the T. asperellum strains. The oils from P. aduncum subps. ossanum and M. quinquenervia caused a growth inhibition of 80-95% on the isolates T.1, T.78 and T.90; whereas on the isolate T.13, the growth inhibition was total. The results obtained made evident that the oil from C. sinensis could be applied jointly with these strains of Trichoderma, an important aspect in disease management.

Palabras clave : essential oils; Piper aduncum subsp. ossanum; Melaleuca quinquenervia; Citrus sinensis.
