The most important theoretical aspects concerning the added value of information are pointed out. There is indicated some elements that must be taken into account to work with the perspective of total quality at the moment of preparing and putting at the disposal of users the information products and services with added value. The role performed by the electronic mail as a way to improve access to these products and services is underlined
