Abstract

LOPEZ ESPINOSA, José Antonio. Cuatro reliquias bibliográficas de la medicina cubana. ACIMED [online]. 2001, vol.9, n.2, pp.173-183. ISSN 1024-9435.

Four bibliographic relics of the Cuban medicine This article intends to save from oblivion and ignorance four important documents running the risk of being wiped out from memory. To this end, the antecedents and principal formal and content characteristics of the first printed work, of the first periodical in Cuba, of the monograph that opened up the national scientific literature in Medicine and of the first medical journal made in Cuba are outlined. These documents are real treasures of the Cuban cultural heritage in general and of the island’s medical literature in particular due to the fact that they are the first fruits of the ingenuity of the Cuban physicians in the 18th and 19th centuries and the sources that make it possible to find out what was thought and written at that time regarding the prevention and treatment of diseases.

Keywords : BIBLIOGRAPHY OF MEDICINE [history]; IN PRINT DOCUMENTS; MONOGRAPHS; PERIODICALS; CUBA.
