TILLAN GOMEZ, Sahilyn  e  CANEDO ANDALIA, Rubén. Comportamiento editorial de la Revista Cubana de los Profesionales de la Información y la Comunicación en Salud (Acimed)*. ACIMED [online]. 2003, vol.11, n.3, pp.5-6. ISSN 1024-9435.

OBJECTIVES: To analyze the editorial behavior of the Cuban Journal of Health Information and Communication Professionals from 1993 to 2001. METHODS: Nine volumes of the printed version of the journal, published during the studied years, were revised to determine their work in relation to a group of indicators selected for their evaluation. The proposed indicators allowed to study the authors, the original articles, the bibliographic references and to originally evaluate the journal's work in the analyzed period. RESULTS: ACIMED published 318 contributions during the nine years analyzed. 84 (26.41 %) of them were original articles. Of the 157 authors that were identified, only a few were foreigners. While the volume of the magazine experienced a two-fold increase, the space dedicated to the research articles did not reach the values internationally stated for this indicator. In spite of the fact that the average of bibliographic references per original article was below the figure taken as a reference, the updating degree of the bibliography was adequate. The journal, as a result of the application of a strategy directed to its publication, is processed or referred to in several information services and websites on Internet. It occupies the ninth position among the 29 magazines published by "Ciencias Médicas" Publishing House, according to the number of accesses received. CONCLUSIONS: Both, the historic evolution and the current management from the editorial point of view of ACIMED show a positive development to the light of the indicators taken as a reference for the study.
