Groups and work teams were characterized and compared. The features and functions that gradually turn a group into work team are pointed out. Advantages and disadvantages of each of them for individuals and organization are provided. Some structural variables team formation pattern, main features and functions are analyzed. A list comprising the main features, functions, strength and weakness for the diverse roles played by their members of work teams and tool for its assessment annexed.
