Abstract

ALONSO LANZA, José Luis. Electronic medical histories: ideas, experiences, and reflections. ACIMED [online]. 2005, vol.13, n.5, pp.1-1. ISSN 1024-9435.

Due to the need of adopting or developing a system for the electronic management of the medical histories of the Psychiatric Hospital in Havana, a review of the literature available at the national and international level was made. From the technical point of view, this process requires the designing of a database and a system that meet both the institution's information requirements and the objective necessity of a national medical information system, of a link to that system, that is still hypothetical, but undoubtedly real. This will force each hospital subsystem of medical history management to be designed in a way in which they are not isolated from the national system and they are not based on individual criteria, but on normalized systems aimed at being easily linked to a national intranet to which the family physician's offices will be integrated on a second phase.

Keywords : Electronic medical history; medical information; health state.
