An overview of the tendencies, models and procedures used to evaluate digital libraries is presented. It is a quite controversial subject with many trends and a terminology under formation. In many cases, this subject is linked to a yet wider one; the evaluation of the digital resources in the web. The results of the Internet research on the evaluation of digital libraries are briefly dealt with, as well as the distinctions between the evaluation of digital libraries in general and that art libraries in particular
