The training of human resources enables an elevation of the quality of the products and services they offer, as well as a greater satisfaction of those who   receive them.   The new technologies of information and communication have drastically changed all aspects of the life of the human being. Aimed at    preparing not only new information professionals, but also the users of the National Health System, the National Center of Medical Sciences Information, Infomed, has implemented since the year 2000 an intense training program in order to improve the available human capital to put into practice the main programs of the Revolution.   In the second half of the year 2004, 91 professionals had graduated from the doctorate course offered by Infomed in their semi-distance modality, 150 librarians had been trained in diverse methodological activities, 1004 information professionals belonging to the primary attention units of the National Health System had been qualified; and 9 451 students had developed   dynamic activities. In the five-year period 2000-2004, it was    initiated a fundamental phase of development in the training of the human resources of the National Health System and the National Medical Sciences Information System in the management of the new information and communication technologies at the service of the health care system in the country.
