Abstract
RODRIGUEZ CAMINO, Reinaldo; PINEDA FERNANDEZ, Clarivel and SARRION NAVARRO, Alicia. Informational literacy in higher medical education in Cuba. ACIMED [online]. 2006, vol.14, n.4. ISSN 1024-9435.
It is acknowledged that the people should possess basic abilities that permit them to seek and to recover the information they need, as well as to evaluate and to utilize effectively that information. This is particularly important in the health field where know-how grows presently to a geometric scale. Since many years ago, the expression literacy teaching is employed to group an assembly of actions that have given the information user-company relations a new dimension. Some reflections on the informational literacy teaching and its antecedents in the National Medical Sciences Information System of Cuba, as well as its representation in the educational curricula with biomedical profile in the country are also made. It is concluded that it is very important to incorporate contents related to the use of the scientific information and technique in health, in the pre- graduate curriculum in the biomedical careers in general, as well as in the graduate teaching in all the of medical higher education centres in the country
