In order to know how the information organization processes took place in the colonial period in Cuba, the memoirs and archives of the Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País were examined. The way in which the processes of selection, processing, storage and conservation were managed at this institution in this stage of the history of Cuba is briefly outlined.
