The concepts of competence and informational competence are analyzed. The conceptual elements considered for the elaboration of the competences are explained, and the constituent elements of informational competence are studied. The change of behaviour the info-literate workers of the National Health Information System should experience to become leaders in the use of scientific-medical information is exposed. The "core" competences are defined.
